Hey Everyone! The ELF Board of Directors met up this past Sunday and joined the service at Bel Air Presbyterian! What a joy it was to come together... In attendance were:
* Trini Phan, Amy Chang, Joan Santos, Kira Hodge, Tom Caldwell, Brian Lanich, Wayne Sonoda and Chris Jahng.
Schedule is coming out fast and furious. After our 2008 Christmas Fundraiser, we have a email list in conjunction with our growing Operation FUN contacts! Look for an email newsletter to come out late January 2009! The first of our monthly communications!
We're adding several programs and events:
1. TUTORING: We'll be creating monthly tutoring days that will be combined with sun and fun so that youths can be tutored in different subjects, while having a chance to play sports, play games, connect with our adult volunteers and eat plenty of home cooked meals! Our first date will be on Saturday, March 14th as we combine with a new fundraising program!
2. GARAGE SALE FUNDRAISER: As mentioned above, we're going to combine our tutoring day with a fundraiser in the community. We'll have a garage sale out on the grass that the youths will work and serve while enhancing their education! We'll have plenty of youth activities, while selling donated items from the local community! Look for more details soon! The event will be an all day extravaganze on Saturday, March 14th in Torrance!
3. MARINE MAMMAL CENTER: We'll spend a day visiting and touring the Marine Mammal Center and visiting the location in San Pedro as well! This will be a fun day, followed by an afternoon picnic lunch out in the sun! Coming soon, with full details on a Saturday near you!
Take a sneak peak at our upcoming calendar:
* Operation FUN on Wednesday nights in Torrance! Every week! 4915 Emerald Ave in Torrance at Greater First Christian Church.
* Saturday, January 31st we're all invited to a dinner party and presentation from the Baja Mexico missionairies! We'll be having tacos and seeing the slide show and hearing about the next trip and future plans and updates from the families!
* Jr. High/Middle School Lazertag lock-in event! On Friday night, February 6th at 11pm to 7am Saturday, we're taking the youngster for an all-nighter in Torrance at Laserstorm! Food and games included in an unlimited way! $25 per youngster.
* Trip to AdventurePlex on Saturday, February 7th in Manhattan Beach. $25 per person, ages 12 and up as we take on the rope course and rock climbing wall. From 1-5pm.
Much more is on the way! Stay tuned and stay involved! Volunteers needed on an ongoing basis for each and every event!

ELF Returns from the Baja Mexico Mission's Trip!!!
Hello Team,
Hope you’ve had some time to rest and reflect on the journey for which we just returned! There is definitely going to be some ongoing follow up, and Pastor John (“PJ”) and I are already talking about the next trip down this coming summer 2009. There is yet so much to do. So I want to encourage you for firstly, a job well done in representing Christ our Lord as best as we could, for the completion of the two homes with insulation and dry wall, plus the work at Agua Viva, the village and even Connie’s school… whew!
We also want to encourage everyone to stay in touch, spread the Word and continue being the best missionary 24/7 everywhere you are and with everything you do and say to anyone and everyone! Don’t ever forget that you are ALWAYS a missionary for Jesus!
So far, we have compiled 2 photo galleries and over 1000 shots for you… keep them coming in. Reply to me and send me any online photos. If you want to send me a CD, we’ll make it happen. There is so much yet to share with one another.
Justin and I will also be working together to set up a reunion party where we can invite our sponsors, break bread together once again, have fun and share photos, a slide show, and give you any follow up announcements for future trips and much, much more! Stay connected with one another in brotherly/sisterly love and share the Gospel at all times, using words when necessary!
I can honestly tell you, from the bottom of my heart, that there is no other people, place or time that I would have ever been a part of, than where we were together this past week. You bless me and teach me one and all. I am reminded very humbly, that throughout all the discourse that is the history of man; all the pain and suffering throughout the world; even the wars that have been fought nationally and even within our own hearts… that time and time again, the Lord our God has risen up heroes of faith from the ranks of those who have made themselves available. Even when we are not prepared or worthy, He calls us to stand up and fight against the evils of this world. Persons of every background, sex, age, size, strength, weakness and influence, as well as the humble, the crippled, the shy and the desperate, have been used by God to answer His calling. This calling is ours to turn despair into hope, defeat into victory, tragedy into celebration, and death into everlasting life. Boast in the Lord’s victory, dearest team, and be passionate and prayerful always. I love you all very much.
Your fellow servant,
Chris
